Wash the rice and put in pan. Cover pan of rice with water so the water level is just slightly above the rice level.
Once you’ve added the rice, add a little salt and give it a quick stir and then place a lid on the pan.
Turn down the temperature of your gas and cook for 20 minutes.
You can check once after 15 minutes if you really feel the need, and if the rice is still hard and there is absolutely no water at the bottom of the pan, just add in a splash of boiling water and put the lid back on again.
Once the texture of the rice feels soft, you can take of the fire and serve.
