Awesome citrus juice recipe (orange / grapefruit)

We love a  good hearty meal aka eba, pounded yam, kenkey,etc. However, its great to let the body recover and detox other days, so we go with a healthy dose of fruit or fruit juice, and lots of water. Citrus fruit is one of our favorites - easy to squeeze, abundant in vitamin C, vitamin B6, calcium, niacin, etc. Click here for the impressive full list of vitamin C according to the FAO. Grapefruit / orange is easy to cut up into 4 or 6 squares and eaten raw. But our favorite method is to squeeze it into a glass of crushed ice, and voila, you're done! 

Preparation Time: 10 mins or less

Ingredients

 1 or 2 fresh grapefruits (or oranges)
Crushed ice in  a glass 
Juicer


How to Make it

  • Wash and cut up grapefruits (or oranges into 2 halves).
  • Fill a glass with crushed ice.
  • Place the glass under the spigot of the juicer. We love this electric juicer sold on amazon - it's fast and easy to use, and clean afterwards. If you don't have a juicer, you can squeeze yourself - great exercise for the fingers, but it's hard to get all the juice out.
  • Squeeze the grapefruit into the glass, and boom - say hello to your glass of citrusy goodness.
